“Pre-Season Tea and Silent Auction” topped the invitation that continued, on a green background, the names of the hosting organizations: Greenie Gals Booster Club, Tulane University Women’s Association and Newcomb Alumnae Association. They honored wives of the 1998 football team and Green Wave coaches’ wives. As for rest of the message, the invitation continued with “Real women watch sports, wear olive & blue (Tulane’s colors) and cheer Hullabaloo. The oak-paneled Josephine Louise Ballroom near Broadway on the Tulane-Newcomb campus was transformed into an English tea garden. Ivy trailed from the mantels and floral-filled teapots in shades of green and blue dotted the tables. Credit where credit was due. Alysia Fortier of Tent Man Tents of Mandeville decorated inviting seating areas, pulling from a collection of antique linen doilies, silver and china candy dishes, and vintage copies of The Jambalaya, Tulane’s yearbook. Classic tea sandwiches from Martin Wine Cellar and miniature flavored scones baked by Fresh Market were part of the afternoon enticements, along with green tea and chocolate cheesecake, rosemary-roasted walnuts, and green/blue teapot-shaped and... As for the libations, sparkling Verdi Spumante punch and Tipsy Sweet Tea cocktails were the signature drinks. Hot tea and almond iced tea were further favorites. Another sort of “green”ing concerned the purchasable items and the auctions, both silent and live. A Greenie Gal BouTEAque featured green Wave-inspired game-day essentials for feminine fans, men, and even little micro “Waves” and pets. Popular items included silver bracelet cuffs, monogrammed stadium afghans, “Roll Wave” embroidered kitchen towels, and green and blue scarves for game day. As they socialized, sipped and nibbled, attendees perused the enticing auction items. Included were a homecoming ride on the “Krewe of Green Wave Volkswagen Bus,” 2015 football season tickets, a membership to the Foundation Room at the House of Blues, restaurant gift certificates, a trip to the Gulf Coast, and jewelry by Newcomb... The auction raised more than $4,300 to benefit student game-day spirit groups at Tulane. Among the many present were Greenie Gals Booster Club President Fergie Lewis, Treasurer Kimberly Buck, Vice President Shannon Kottemann, and Tulane University Women’s Association past President Barbara Knill. Also, Ashley and Madeline Jones, respective mother and grandmother of freshman All American tight end Charles Jones. Tucked away in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York is the charming town of Gracious Grove, where time moves slowly, gossip spreads quickly, and the scones are to die for… When her fashionable Manhattan restaurant goes under, Sophie Taylor retreats to her grandmother’s cozy shop, Auntie Rose’s Victorian Teahouse, where serenity is steeped to perfection in one of her many antique teapots. The last thing Sophie expects is a bustling calendar of teahouse events, like her old friend Cissy Peterson’s upcoming bridal shower. Not everyone is pleased with the bride-to-be’s choice of venue—like Cissy’s grandmother, who owns a competing establishment, La Belle Epoque, and has held a long-simmering grudge against Rose for stealing her beau sixty years ago. Tensions reach a boiling point...

118. It's a Crock-ery
118. It's a Crock-ery

Been playing in the pantry again today, way too cold outside. From my paternal grandmother by way of my Mom. The hallmark says Titian Ware Hand Painted. The Perugia. Patent 70566. Royal Ivory England. Est 1657 Despite all its fancy hallmarks and names (Perugia was where Titian painted in Italy) it looks like you can buy one of these for about 10 bucks on eBay. Definitely crockery, not fine china. Whew, don't have to move it back from the edge of the shelf. :) Have a matching teapot and creamer, and they are definitely fun to use when I my church circle gathers for tea and talk. Probably made around 1900.
