Beautiful post Elaine and heart touching too. I know you must be missing Selma. But you chose to remember her in a befitting way. Your kitchen is lovely. I am so much in love with your tea set. And I am an avid Green tea drinker. We can’t wait to see some lovely loaves from your kitchen. Cheer up and take care. Ha ha, thought you might appreciate this. I posted this on FB a couple of years ago, out does anything else but it’s voice conversion not receptive text. Be warned when you leave messages on phones that answer when you get that message to “leave a short message of up to 10 seconds and we will forward a text message to the account holder” etc. Our beloved JG very graciously rang a parent when the child’s tooth got broken to say “Hi its JG here from XXX, just ringing to let you know that XXX has chipped a bit off her tooth today”. Not quoted verbatim but obviously the conversion technology missed a bit in the translation, text received by parent was “blah, blah, just letting you know that the little shit has run away. ” Absolute GOLD, haven’t laughed so much for years. We have now decided to not put detail into message, just say ring XXX. ” We still giggle about it © Elaine Boddy and foodbod, 2013, 2014. In this refined volume, Mariage Freres, importers of tea into France since 1854, offer their definitive version of the art of tea, making this essential reading for all those who are unable resist the temptation of a fragrant cup of tea accompanied by a flaky pastry. When Richard Bueno and Kitti Cha Sangmanee bought the well-respected Parisian firm in the early eighties, they expanded the business and gave it a radically new dimension by inventing the French art of tea. To do so they sought out the best tea buds from all four corners of the globe and introduced their clientele to many new exotic tastes including green teas from Japan, white teas from China, and First Flush Darjeelings. Mariage Freres recognize though that tea is about more than just a satisfying drink - it is an...

Cast iron Japanese tetsubin-style teapot with plum ornament (made in China). Probably ornament is not that fine as on original Japanese teapots, but the price was much lower. I am quite happy with it as a teapot.

163/365 - Tetsubin

A Japanese cast iron teapot, or tetsubin, with a "hobnail" pattern. I bought this for my wife a number of years ago, back when we would have a nice leisurely spot of tea on occasion, although we rarely have time to sit down and brew a leisurely pot of anything these days. I wanted to try to keep it simple tonight, but I still spent longer than I planned, mostly because I wanted to get steam rising out of the spout, but I just couldn't convince steam to come out of the spout no matter how much steam rose out of the lid when I opened it. Go figure. Tomorrow's going to be tricky, since I'm spending the entire day and most of my evening at a conference my company is running, and everything there is confidential. The conference is right next to the Charles River, though, so I'm hoping I might be able to sneak outside at some point and get a shot or two in, but it's going to be tricky.
